When it comes to wedding planning, flowers are a must. They bring color, life, and wonderful aromas to your special occasion. Plus, there are tons of ways to utilize flowers as decorations and accessories.

Whether you are DIYing your wedding or looking for a coordinator to stay on top of everything, here are 11 creative ways to use flowers in your wedding.

1. Line the Aisles with Arrangements

Decorate and line the aisle for your ceremony with flowers. Use large flower arrangements or plants to mark the entrances of each row of chairs.

If you are having a wedding outside, it might be a good idea to include plants that keep mosquitoes away. You don’t want your guests to be distracted by itchiness when you say ‘I do.’

2. Flowers for the Wedding Party

Don’t just stick with the same flower for all of your groomsmen to wear as boutonnieres. Switch it up by using different types of flowers. Got Lilies and Chrysanthemums in your bouquet? Have some men wear lilies and others wear mums. Or you can have all of the guys wear Chrysanthemums and just the Best Man wear the lily.

Have your Maid of Honor hold a miniature flower bouquet. Make sure to pick one that sets her apart from the bridesmaids but doesn’t steal the show from your own bouquet.

Get corsages for your bridesmaids. It’s a simple way to accessorize your wedding party and it frees up their hands.

3. A Flower Crown for the Flower Girl

Traditional flower girl accessories include a white headband adorned with white flowers. Consider having a flower crown made for her to wear that incorporates the flowers of your wedding.

This is perfect if your ceremony is at one of Stonegate’s indoor venues. Beware of bees though –– you don’t want to put a target on a little girl’s head if the wedding party will be outside!

4. Create an Archway Made of Flowers

Have the dreamy wedding garden of your dreams with an archway made of flowers. Decorate the arch at Stonegate’s Fairy Garden with flowers. You can choose to cover the archway as much as you’d like from particularly arranged single flowers to complete coverage.

Asymmetrical arches made of flowers placed elsewhere could also make a great photo opportunity for you and your guests.

5. Add Flair to Chairs

Use flowers to decorate chairs at your wedding. Drape them with cloth coverings and tie flowers on the backs.

Don’t want to deal with fabric? Attach the flowers in an artistic way to the sides of the chairs.

6. Enhance your Table Decor

Centerpieces are a must when it comes to decorating tables at your wedding.

Upgrade the classic flowers-in-a-vase with floating flowers. Cut off just the flower from the stem and arrange them in a tall vase. Slowly pour in water to make sure the flowers stay put.

If that is not your thing, you can have round flower arrangements created for the center of the table. Since these arrangements are shorter than vases, your guests will be able to see each other better.

7. Use the Seeds of Your Flowers as a Party Favor

Use flower seeds as a party favor. You can leave small packets of seeds on the table or use them as nameplates. It’s a cute, quick, and easy way for your guests to take a piece of your big day home with them.

Try matching the seeds to the flowers that are on the table. Imagine the look on your guests’ faces when they realize they have seeds for the exact flowers they are looking at!

8. Tuck a small flower into the napkin arrangement

Another creative way to use flowers at your wedding is to tuck a small flower into the napkin arrangement on tables.

This simple and delicate touch to the table settings will elevate the dinner experience for your guests.

9. Create a Floral Chandelier

A chandelier made of flowers is a beautiful way to incorporate flowers at your wedding.

Carefully attach flowers to the chandelier already at your wedding venue, or you can have one created ahead of time. Just make sure you have the ability to hang the arrangement from the ceiling.

10. Garnish the Walls with Flowers

If you really want to make your indoor wedding venue an immersive experience, place flowers on the walls. This is a simple and quick way to make use of flowers at your wedding.

By garnishing the walls with flowers, your guests will also be able to take pictures anywhere and not have to worry about what is in the background.

11. Decorate the Getaway Car

Spruce up your getaway car with flowers! Tying flowers to the license plate is a cute way to show the world you’re ‘Just Married.’

What a cute thing for your guest to look at while you drive away with the love of your life!

A Wedding to Remember

There are so many plants in this world and so many ways to incorporate flowers in your wedding. Use these ideas to make your wedding one to remember. Also, you don’t need to try every one of these tips –– mix-and-match the ideas you like best or just select the ones you think will fit the aesthetic of your wedding.

No matter how you end up decorating, remember: this day is about you, your spouse, and the love you share. Hopefully each time you smell a rose, lily, carnation, or whatever flowers you end up using, you’ll be transported back to the happiest day of your life.
